  1. Keeping the inevitability of death on the forefront of your awareness keeps the rest of life's trivialities in a healthier perspective. Issues like social shame, ridicule or isolation won't hurt as much any more.
  2. Fearing death is futile since you won't be alive to experience it.
  3. You're not that important. People have better things going on in their lives than to think or gossip about you.
